New site announced: Miners' Walk in Madeley
Published: Wednesday, 1 February 2017
We are delighted to announce we are building more new homes in Telford and Wrekin – with Miners’ Walk at Madeley Court being the next site to become available.
Madeley Court is the fourth site being delivered by Nuplace following hot on the heels of The Oaklands in Matlock Avenue, Dawley, which was launched at the end of last year.
There are two further sites coming forward at Hadley and Newport although the Newport one is still subject to planning.
Miners’ Walk will have 53 two and three bedroom homes for private rent with properties ready for occupation in winter 2017. Work has already started on site.
As part of Nuplace’s community engagement ahead of the work, children from John Fletcher of Madeley Primary School had fun taking part in an artwork competition which saw them designing their dream home.
Millie Johnson, aged 11,was chosen as the winner and was awarded a family pass to Telford Ice Rink. Her artwork will be printed on the hoarding on the outside of the new development. William Hackett, also aged 11, was chosen as the runner up.
Millie said: “I am delighted to win the competition and looking forward to visiting the Ice Rink with my mum. I am also very proud that my artwork will be put on the hoarding at the new Miners’ Walk development.”
Matthew Gould, head teacher at John Fletcher of Madeley Primary, said: “The children have really loved this project. It has given them a chance to use their imagination and creativity as well as learning about the new development in the local community.”
Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Housing, said: “This will be a great new development for Madeley, providing properties for the private rental market through Nuplace.”
Properties will be ready for owners and tenants to move into in winter 2017.
Two Nuplace sites have already seen tenants move in at Pool View in Randlay and Woodland Walk in Madeley.
