Nuplace house named after children's author
Published: Thursday, 15 March 2018
Children from St George’s Primary School in Telford have been asked to name Nuplace’s brand new four bedroom detached property at Coppice Court, Snedshill.
Coppice Court is Nuplace’s latest development which will feature 39 private properties to rent.
The year three children were asked to don their thinking caps and come up with a name to personalise the brand new family property. Five names were submitted in total which were all associated with their favourite authors.
Morpurgo House was chosen as the favourite, named after Michael Morpurgo who is the writer of over 130 beloved children’s books including War Horse and Private Peaceful.
Michael Morpurgo commented: “Home is where the heart is. So to have your name associated with home is a rare privilege, a great honour and a joy. Be happy there.”
Morpurgo House has been approved by the Royal Mail so will be used as part of the official address for the property as well as in marketing literature and on Nuplace’s website.
Mr Tyas, Head teacher at St George’s Primary School said: “This has been a great opportunity for us to get creative as a class and remember some of our favourite stories at the same time. We’re delighted Nuplace liked our ideas and it’s fantastic that the name will be officially used as part of the address.”
Councillor Richard Overton, Telford & Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for Housing, said: “Thank you to the children and teachers at St Georges for helping us to name this property – with 39 properties at this site it’s great that we have been able to give this one property a character of its own.”
